What is a Masterboard Game?  

Masterboard© is a game of skill.

Masterboard© games are interactive battles

between players to complete crosswords and to

answer general knowledge questions.

 

PLAYING A GAME: Masterboard is played in time-limited Games. Players compete directly against each other to be the first to solve Crossword Clues and to answer Knowledge Questions.

 

All players are graded, and you can upgrade your status as you get better.

 

It is a high speed interactive game

combining crosswords, general knowledge, strategy,

and research ability.

 

You can play as an individual or in a team, and be

involved in as much social interaction as you desire.

You must be a registered Subscriber to qualify for the Prizes.

 
 

The Session Calendar, where the prize games are listed, is divided into two halves:

  • GRADE POINTS GAMES: These games are purely played to win Grade Points. Grade Points accumulate and can earn you status and win monthly and other special prizes.
  • SIRIUS POINTS GAMES: Players can win Sirius Points as well as Grade Points in these games. Sirius Points can be cashed in or you can shop with them in the site shop. Sirius Points games carry larger Grade Points prizes than Grade Points games. Sirius Points Games require a small Sirius Points payment to play them - You can buy Sirius Points at any time by clicking the link at the bottom of the screen.

Parameters are set for each game in the Game Rules Sheet. If you want to see a Game Rules Sheet go to the Sessions Calendar and click on a Game.

Once you have registered to play a game, a BLUE PILLOW link will appear in your Account Chamber a minute or two prior to the commencement of the Game. You click that link and will be transported to the Library where your Game commences.

The Library has links to all of the Crosswords and Knowledge Question sets which are available to play and to score from during your Game. - the Crossword and Knowledge Question links in the Library become alive once the time for the Game start arrives

A Game may consist of any number of Crosswords, and Knowledge Question sets, and each Game has it's Game Rules Sheet which describes the particular set of rules for that Game - such as how many points you win, how many session points you get for answering clues, etc.
 
All players in a Game can see all the crosswords and knowledge question sets in their Game stored around the library shelves - plus you can see solutions live on screen as words are solved by other players, or as questions are answered
 
Players in a Game can also see each other's scores.
 
First to solve each Crossword clue gets the points for that word and the points for those letters which make up that word. Also you get points for solving Knowledge Questions
 
When you solve a word or answer a question and type it into the space provided the letters will turn green and your score increases. If someone else has already solved it, then that answer is locked.
 
All other Players can instantly see the solution locked in and cannot then solve that clue / question.

Players desperate to boost their score can move Sirius Points from their account to buy Session Points at the rate of 1 for 1, and thus add onto their score at any time until the closure of a Game (called 'Score Boosting').

Once the Game goes live (starts) the links in the Library go live. You click one you like and away you go. The more you solve the more you score.

You can go back to the Library as often as you like using the 'BACK' button and open more Crosswords and Knowledge Question Sets to put in more answers and score more points.

If you or your team are smart enough to fill in a whole Crossword on your own (no other player in the Session gets a word in that Crossword) then you score huge bonus points and stand an excellent chance of winning the Game and the prize that goes with it.

These games are suitable for individuals or teams  - in the chatbox during a game if you double click on a player name then you get a private chatbox with that player.
 
Each crossword in a Game has a level of difficulty, and varying points are earned as attributed to words / letters successfully solved by you. Likewise the knowledge questions are graded. This information is provided in the relevant Game Rules Sheet.

Each time you correctly solve a clue or question, your Session Score increases (as long as you are the first to type in the answer). If you are first you will see a flash and the letters turn green. If someone else has already solved it the word will already be loaded in - there is a scoring log available in your game scorebox so you can chack and see how your score has progressed.

Your playing history is available in your Account Chamber.

 
So:
Each game consists of a number of crosswords and general knowledge questions which players can attempt to solve in an interactive session.
 
Players play to win
  • Grade Points – these are Site status points and a Leaderboard is available in the Trading Post
  • Sirius Points – these are points which can be cashed in for $ value. They can also be used to trade on the Site.  Leaderboard also in Trading Post
 In a Game you win Session Points which you score by being first to type in solutions.
 
When the Game is complete (end of Game time) the Player with the most Session points wins the Prize.
 
The Prize is automatically awarded to the winner’s Player Account. Your Sirius Points score and your Grade Points score are both displayed in your Account Chamber.

During a Game you earn session points every time you successfully solve a Crossword clue or answer a knowledge question. Whoever has the most session points at the end of the Game time limit wins that Game and the Prize which goes with it.
